Moving cost cannot be estimated responsibly from bedroom count alone. The amount and type of furniture, number of cartons, travel between addresses, crew needs, and expected time all matter. Large, fragile, unusually shaped, or disassembly-intensive pieces may affect planning. A clear inventory gives a mover better information than a brief description such as “small apartment.”
Access can also influence the work. Tell the company about stairs, elevators, long carries, gated entries, narrow halls, limited parking, steep paths, and the distance from the likely vehicle position to each door. Share photos or arrange another assessment if requested. Disclosing obstacles early reduces surprises and helps the team evaluate the requested scope.
Account for optional and changing work
Packing level is another factor. Compare self-packing, help with selected fragile items, and broader packing support based on what is actually included. Ask whether materials, furniture preparation, disassembly, reassembly, storage, or other requested services appear in the quote. Confirm particular items rather than assuming every belonging or task falls within a general service label.
Changes can affect a quote. Added boxes, an unlisted room, unavailable elevator, delayed property access, or a destination change can alter the work required. Ask the mover how updates should be reported and how potential changes are handled. Provide revised information before moving day whenever possible and keep the final agreed scope in writing.
Compare quotes carefully
Compare descriptions and terms, not just totals. Check addresses, dates, inventory assumptions, access notes, packing responsibilities, storage details, exclusions, and payment expectations. Ask for clarification when wording is unclear. A low figure based on incomplete information is not automatically a better value, while a detailed quote should still be reviewed for accuracy.
